“Foraging is a fun way to hike in the woods while gathering wild foods that you can eat! Think wild blackberries, nuts, fungi, nettles, and other plants. While our ancestors relied on foraging, today, it’s more about a way to go outdoors, get exercise, and get to know the natural world.”
Edible, Medicinal and Useful Plants – Bob Richie is a Dallas native who raises bees, chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs. On this walk Bob will share his passion for urban foraging.
We’ll start with a quick botany lesson on how to positively identify the plants we are looking for and then we will search out and try some of the fresh and tasty offerings that grow naturally in our area. We will discuss useful and medicinal plants that can be found in the area as well.
